German term or phrase: zum Abenteuer machen
Talking about Tibet being a mysterious country...
'Nicht nur, dass die geografische Lage den rein räumlichen Zugang zum Abenteuer macht - die buddhistische Kultur und die Mentalität machen ein Verstehen und Eingehen auf die Menschen zu einem schwierigen Unterfangen.'
I understand what this sentence is saying bit I just don't seem to be able to find the right words in English. Can anyone help?

makes it quite an adventure
Explanation:
Not only does the geographical situation make mere physical access a quite an adventure, but the Buddhist culture and mentality make understanding and communication with the people a difficult undertaking. - By adventure the writer means a hairy experience.

Explanation:
>>It’s not just that the geographical location makes even getting there an [exciting] adventure ... <<

You can phrase it a bit more strongly without being accused of hyperbole. Hey this is TIBET!
