Depending on how formal you need it; I'm partial to "take the heat" (as in "if you can't take the heat, stay out of the kitchen). Just make sure it's tied in well with the context, otherwise it could be misconstrued as "Sündenbock sein" which is a translation of "to take the heat for someone."
