sighted on the dance floor, completely in a world of their own ...

Explanation:
losgelöst has two hidden references:

1) a song from the neuen deutschen Wellen "völlig losgelöst" (von der Erde), with reference to David Bowie´s Space Oddity

2) Losgelöst von irdischen Belangen etwas tun wie tanzen, heißt, in anderen Welten schweben (from Cécile)

Maybe my proposal is better with "completely" left out, it spoils the rhythm, which in this apparent context is all-important.

-> Cécile, my wife, who is au courant with such things, immediately made these two connections with "out of the world".

seen on the dance floor, completely in his own world...

Or something to that effect. With what little context you provide, it's difficult to guess why the person is being described as "völlig losgelöst" (which translates literally as being completely detached).
Parkett is a fairly common term for dance floor. Your excerpt sounds like it's something from the society column.
