German to English translations [PRO] Tech/Engineering - IT (Information Technology)
German term or phrase:aussteuern
Source sentence where the term occurs:
Die Portnummer des TCP/IP Sockets des LIMS (lawful inspection management system), an welches die G10 Ereignisnachrichten ausgesteuert werden.
I would appreciate suggestions in the context of this particular sentence.
This seems to point towards a particular usage of the word aussteuern by the author. The reason why I thought of "extract" is:
Utimaco offers a range of probes “Utimaco LIMS Access Points” that analyze the traffic based on defined filter rules and can extract data of specific interest. Law enforcement and intelligence agencies make use of such probes for non-intrusive surveillance of communication links.
I would use your sentence but replace extracted with transmitted. Another possibility is "...to which the event message is directed. Since the socket does not generate the message, it cannot extract it - the message is sent / transmitted or directed to ...
In the context of LIMS, which is actually the lawful interception management system, would it be correct to say: The number of the outgoing port of/for the LIMS TCP/IP socket, to which the event message is extracted.
... a port is assigned / reserved or yes, allocated, for outgoing LIMS messages.
Sangeeta, where did you encounter "aussteuern" in the sense of "disqualify, reject"? The verb has a number of different meanings in electronics and elsewhere, but I've never seen it being used like this. At any rate, in the present case, the basic meaning of "aussteuern" seems to be "to output / put out". But as I said, it's a strange expression.
Looks like the brains of these programmers are in serious need of an upgrade of their "German software" ;-]
