German to English translations [PRO] Law/Patents - Law (general) / Austrian legislation
German term or phrase:Pensionskassengesetz (PKG)
I am editing a translation into English where the names of all other Acts referred to have been given an English equivalent but not this one.
For example, the Pensionskassenvorsorgesgesetz (PKVG) is referred to as the Pension Fund Provision Act.
sometimes have reasons behind them, e.g. peculiarities governing different pension funds in Austria of which I am largely ignorant. In this case, it would seem to be an oversight on the part of the translator. Thank you for your entry, AllegroTrans.
There is usually no "official" translation for terms like this where the country concerned does not have English as one of its official languages. Your translation is fine and I would do exactly as you suggest - quote the term in German and follow it with the translation in brackets. This leaves no room for doubt as to the exact legislation referred to.
