German to English translations [PRO]
Law/Patents
German term or phrase: Beistandschaft - wettgeschlagen
Taken from Swiss divorce proceedings:
Die xxxxx geschlossene Ehe wird geschieden.
Es wird festgestellt, dass eine Beistandschaft gemaess Art. 308. ZGB besteht.
Under that: Die Gerichtskosten werden den Parteien je zur Haelfte auferlegt. Die Partiekosten werden wettgeschlagen.
Any assistance would be much appreciated.
Chris
English translation:See below
Explanation:
Beistandschaft refers to the Jugendamt in Germany. In divorce proceedings the Jugendamt either assumes Vormundschaft, which is guardianship, or Beistandschaft, which is assistance offered by the Jugendamt to make sure that child support is paid, etc.
As regards wettschlagen, this probably means "gegenrechnen" or to offset the costs.

Good luck!

Thanks, this makes more sense than guardianship, since the child remained in custody of one of the parents.
