aide-memoire (Black's Law Dictionary): A diplomatic document that a diplomatic agent leaves with the receiving state's department of foreign affairs on the occassion of a demarche. The aide-memoire presents the receiving state with a precise recorde of the substance of the diplomatic agent's mission. It is typically written in an impersonal style, without mentioning either the addressee or the author. It appears on printed letterhead and is dated but is not signed, initialed, or embossed with a seal. Demarche: an oral or written diplomatic statement, esp. one containing a demand, offer, protest, threat, or the like. What do you think now? Sounds pretty specific, or? Too specific for the context. |
