Law/Patents
German term or phrase: mit sofortiger gesetzlicher UNVERFALLBARKEIT
Found in a text on pension reform. While I understand the concept, i.e. such legislation not to expire, I am sure there is a better legal term, but cannot find it in my references. Thanks for any help and grateful also for anyone who is expert in old age pensions to contact me!

English translation:vested / unforfeitable
Explanation:
First of all, here is the definition of the term that I found in one of the on-line legal lexicons:
Unverfallbarkeit, gesetzlich

for several possible renderings of the term.
It can be "such and such right becomes unforfeitable", or "vested". Since there is also such thing as "vertraegliche Unverfallbarkeit", I would write "vested in accordance with the law", to distinguish it from "vested under the contract".

imprescriptable / indefeasible

Explanation:
unverjährbar = imprescriptable, indefeasible (right)
verfallen = (to) expire -> whihc is usually asscoiated with a time period (date) unless it is specifically associated with a specific event.
In legal case one does also speak of
"Verjährung" = limitation, sich as with a statute of limitations.
So I think that "Unverfallbarkeit" (which I cannot find in any of my smater books) could be considered synonymous with "unverjährbar".
See whether you think this fits your context.
"indefeasible" by the way can be found on Google: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&safe=off&q=indefeasib...
with some content that looks right up you alley.
