German term or phrase: Erziehungsurlaub
Apparently some time off from work granted to mothers of small children. I really don't have a clear idea and, therefore, I am not sure how to translate the term. The context does not provide any details.

Parental leave

Here are some excerpts from previous answers to the same term:

Answer: Parental leave

Explanation:
This topic has recently been discussed on TV, and the expression parental leave was used to include fathers into this new arrangement. (It is "politically correct").

I now agree with Ani

"maternity leave" may not be quite the best answer because that really is "Mutterschutz", "Erziehungsurlaub" starts after that and either the father or mother can take it. It would sound a little strange for the father to say he was on maternity leave. I couldn't find a name other than "parental leave".
