German term or phrase: Verein
International Dance Theatre e. V.

Explanation:
Sparkie,

If you're translation a legal document, then leave 'e.V.' untouched. It's part of the legal name of the association.

However, if you are allowed some degree of informality in the translation, I suggest chucking the eV overboard and just write "Intl. Dance Theater". Although it really won't sound too awkward to add 'company':

International Dance Theater Company

Association and society are out of the question. My two dancing cents.

e.V.

Explanation:
stands for eingetragener Verein it all depends if this Dance Theater is legally in that same category. If you don't know, I would say association it just sounds right. ;0)

International Dance Theatre e. V.

Explanation:
Never ever translate proper names!
"e.V." defines the legal form of the business. If the name includes "e.V." the name enjoys legal protection. The "e.V." further defines legal accountability. Do not translate "e.V."!

    Common sense.
