German to English translations [PRO]
Tech/Engineering - Management
German term or phrase: Jour-Fixe-Protokolle Planung
as well as Jour-Fixe-Protokolle Ausfuehrung. These are chapter titles under the heading of 'Dokumentation Entscheidungen'. The context is the 'Projekthandbuch' for an architectural project.

Should jour-fixe remain untranslated in English? What is it anyway?

English translation:the planning regular meeting minutes - the writing of regular meeting minutes
Explanation:
"Jour fixe" is often used for departmental or team meetings in any sort of medium to large company that reoccur on the same day each week or each month where progress reports on ongoing projects are delivered and discussed. It is not in the New Oxford Dictionary of English, 1998 so I would translate it. In this general context, the author wants to say that these minutes should be of high quality because they are a part of the documentation used as a basis for important decisions. Therefore some thought needs to be given to their planning and accomplishment.

on a fixed day / on the same day

Explanation:
This is really difficult without seeing the text: jour-fixe usually means on the same/fixed day. If there is an accent on the final é - 'appointed day' is better. If the French is recognised in Germany maybe it is in the UK/USA as many French terms are. Although personally I have never heard it used. Do you know any architects??
I'm sorry I can't be more helpful.

regular log planning

Explanation:
This question is unanswerable without knowing more about the mode of discourse, and in particular whether we are talking about documentation as such or software for managing it. A "jour fixe" in press relations work is a fixed day - normally at regular intervals - for an organization to meet the press. "Protokoll" means "log" in IT parlance, but can also mean "minutes" in connection with a meeting. Suggest to you discuss this with the client. Good luck!
