editorial or limited-advertisement together with portion/content/environment/service/sections/parts Explanation: They probably just want to say that your ad will not wind up on a page with nothing else but a lot of other ads. Your ad will be alone or nearly alone on a page with an interesting news report, editorial, commentary, or other feature. Maybe even content pertaining to the product or service you advertise. NODE – The New Oxford Dictionary of English, gives this definition of "editorial" used as an adjective: "of or relating to the part of a newspaper or magazine which contain NEWS, INFORMATION, or COMMENT as opposed to advertising." (the caps are from me) NODE also gives this definition of the mass noun "editorial": "the parts of a newspaper or magazine which are not advertising" This backs up what Vesna-Z suggested. Care should probably be taken not to write "editorial page(s)" because this might be then understood as only the pages of the newspaper or magazine that contain only commentary written by editors, often called "editorials", as contrasted to "news" written by reporters. I doubt if your author wants to promise that the ads will be placed only on the pages with commentary. Terms like "editorial environment", "news sections", "editorial content", "editorial part", "editorial portion", or "limited advertising sections/content/parts/portions" would be possibilities you could use for "redaktionelles Umfeld". None of the GE>EN dictionaries I checked give anything else but "editorial" for "redaktionell". With the words "erstklassigen" and "hervorragenden", they want you to know that the quality level of the articles and commentary around your ad is high in the sense of being interesting and attractive. The intent being that for the extra price often charged for this sort of placement, readers will stop on the page where your ad is. With "redaktionelle Leistung", they are probably referring to the special (higher priced) service that will ensure that your ad lands in the most attractive parts of the publication. If Vesna-Z's "editorial service" is not clear enough or explanatory enough, you could write "editorial advertisement placement service" or "editorial placement service" HTH Dan |

graphic design and journalistic quality Explanation: As freelance journalist and former editor I am reluctant to use 'editorial' for 'redaktionel,' since editorial usually (but not only) refers to opinionated articles. In this case, however, the emphasis seems to be on the lay-out of the page and the journalistic quality of the text/articles surrounding the ad. Therefore, I would opt for an expression which makes that clear. "The top-quality of the graphic design and journalistic features surrounding your ad will make it most effective." This is a rather free translation, but I hope you get my point. Good luck! Experience and German mother tongue |
