German to English translations [PRO]
Marketing
German term or phrase: einverkaufen / Einverkauf
Headline: X mit überdimensionalem Erfolg in den Handel einverkauft.

Text: Die brandneue Marke X erzielte beim Einverkauf in den Handel überdimensionale Ergebnisse.

Is this brand just achieving good sales figures, or is there something I'm missing. I can't find 'einverkaufen' anywhere ...

English translation:introduce/introduction
Explanation:
I have never heard this word either, and I am a native speaker, just returned from a longer stay in Germany. From the context, I would say that they meant a combination of einführen/verkaufen. They introduced it and immediately sold a huge amount of this product.

Another suggestion would be "they brought... to market."

Hope this helps.

Angela

Thanks Angela, it's all becoming clearer now. And thanks to everyone who answered. Regrettably, I can only award points once.

Explanation:
I agree with Angela.

I also found the word "Abverkauf" in the same sentence.

Seems like "Einverkauf" includes introduction and sale and "Abverkauf" the sale in a later stage.

Just a guess :-)

purchase for sale

Explanation:
Einverkauf is a word commonly used in German, as well es Abverkauf

Explanation:
Just asked our sales department who "guessed" that "Einverkauf" means the sale to a distributor who then sells the products to the end user/customer. In contrast
to "Abverkauf" which means the distributor sells them to the end customer.

I think that makes sense.
