expansion / widening Explanation: Based on your sentence, this I think is not a hub or socket but an *expansion*. The text states that "reforming/converting the shafts and manufacturing extensions on one or both ends is not possible since various interior pressure points are needed". You will have to decide whether the 'expansion' is radial (wider) or horizontal (longer). This is only logical since pressure changes as a function of a tube's width and length. The link below is to a company that does 'Aufweitung' of 'pipes' so I assume the expansion is radial. I'd settle for widening or expansion.
