German to English translations [PRO]
Tech/Engineering - Mechanics / Mech Engineering
German term or phrase: Rundprofil
In a patent relating to Ankerbolzen/Befestigungen:
"Die geringfügige Verminderung der Zugfestigkeit durch die mittel- bis starkwandige Kreisringfläche bei Rundprofilen ist vertretbar bzw. bei gleichem Gewicht des Befestigungsmittels einfact kompensierbar."

Any ideas for RUNDPROFIL in this context?

Thanks very much!

Harold

Not 'exactly' but certainly close enough for patent work.

pipe

Explanation:
My first idea was "round bar", but as a "mittel- bis starkwandige Kreisringfläche" is mentioned, "Rundprofile" means "pipes" in this context.

pics!

Explanation:
Harold, providing pics of Rundprofilen so you can see what they look like (definitely not pipes!)

Peer comments on this answer (and responses from the answerer)
disagree  Gunsou: I don't think these pics show the type of Rundprofile mentioned in the patent concerned.

tubular section

Explanation:
Yes, "pipe" is not good. I suggest tubular section instead. As we have a "Kreisringfläche", the Rundprofil concerned must be of tubular shape.

Peer comments on this answer (and responses from the answerer)
agree  Marcus Malabad: but still you haven't proven that the translation of Rundprofil is 'tubular section', evidence?

agree  Rolf Bueskens: It is self-evident from 'Kreisringflaeche'.
