German to English translations [PRO]
Tech/Engineering - Mechanics / Mech Engineering
German term or phrase: Schnittufer, freischneiden, Auflagerreaktion
it is of a mechanics/statics lecture

see below
Explanation:
freischneiden -- cut free (or cut cleanly), I guess it will depend on your context [Ernst, WB der industriellen Technik]
freischneiden -- punch
freischneiden -- relief-cutting, relief-milling, relief-turning [Siemens, Energie- und Automatisierungstechnik]
It generally helps to provide the entire sentence in which the troublesome term occurs.
Auflager(reaktion) -- bearing, support [Siemens and Ernst]. Siemens also lists support reaction which might work with your parenthetical term.

Couldn't find anything on Schnittufer, although I would guess it might have to do with cutting lines, i.e. lines along which a cut is to be made ? Maybe if you provided a bit more context?

thanks, but it is difficult to give the whole context.
