Heilerziehungspfleger

English translation: special needs carer/teacher/therapist

German to English translations [PRO]
Medical - Medical: Health Care
German term or phrase: Heilerziehungspfleger
Source sentence: "Ausbildung von Heilerziehungspflegern in Ostrumänien"

Although I've found the Wikipedia definition of "Heilerziehungspflege" (aka "Heilerziehung": http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heilerziehungspflege), I haven't a clue what this might be in English - let alone what a practioner thereof is called.

Can anyone help me here? (Appropriate explanatory links would of course be greatly appreciated)

Many thanks in advance!

agree  sappho: tricky I know, I am one and there is no one-to-one translation

agree  franglish: "remedial therapist for children with special needs" is a bit long winded, but I believe it 's the proper name.http://www.pgss.org/manual/biblio.html and others

agree  Michelle Hertrich: I believe "special needs carer" is the best translation. Heilerziehungspfleger don´t just work with children so franglish´s suggestion might not be appropriate in this case.
