pontics of the bridge in the lower jaw Explanation: A bridge consists of one or more pontics (floating units supported from the side - the actual bridge) and abutments (attached units based on remaining roots, possibly reinforced by gold posts; or on implants). I have a 9-tooth upper bridge following a cycling accident -- 3 pontics, 4 abutments. 30 years in medical radiology & specific experience (ouch) |
