aqueous or aqueous humor Explanation: These are the most frequently used terms; I do a fair bit of interpreting work in the field of ophthalmology, and aqueous (or sometimes aqueous humor) is the term used in the presentations. Kammerwasser: Humor aquosus; Inhalt der vorderen u. hinteren Augenkammer; entsteht durch aktive Sekretion einer klaren, farblosen Flüssigkeit (2-3 mm3/min) durch die Ziliarfortsätze; Abfluß in den Kammerwinkel, durch das Trabeculum corneosclerale u. die Fontana-Räume in den Schlemm-Kanal u. in die Kammerwasservenen, z. T. Rückresorption. K. ist in der Zusammensetzung fast ident. mit Liquor cerebrospinalis u. isoton. zum Serum, enthält Elektrolyte, Proteine, Zucker, Enzyme, Hyaluronsäure, Ascorbinsäure; es dient der Formerhaltung des Bulbus sowie der Ernährung von Linse u. Hornhaut. Störungen des Abflusses können zu Augeninnendruckerhöhung u. Glaukom* führen.
