German term or phrase: Abgabestation/Aufnahmestation URGENT!

The text is about a telecoms system which links carers to patients in hospitals and the carers are alerted when patient press certain buttons on the machine. These words are referring to when wards have to be linked on the telecoms system so that those wards with few staff can be looked after by another ward, ie. the calls for help are diverted to another ward by the system. I think aufnahmestation might be admissions, but I'm not sure about abgabestation. HTH. Nick

Explanation:
It would be most helpful to have the complete German sentence. From what you describe, though, I really do not believe that "Aufnahmestation" is admissions; it seems to be the station in the telecommunications system that RECEIVES the call (i.e. to which the call or message is forwarded). That would make the Abgabestation the Forwarding Station (or possibly the Requesting Station), and the Aufnahmestation the Receiving Station (or maybe Responding Station).

I can't find anything in my telecommunications references that would provide a "pat translation", but I'd urge you to look at your context from this perspective and see if it doesn't make sense.

I think you and Dierk may be on the right lines, but you are normally "discharged" from hospital and "released" from prison... Therefore I would suggest "discharge" instead.HTH, Heather

Explanation:
Sorry if this confuses matters further, but Abgabe can also mean hand-off, as in a relay runner handing off the baton to the next runner, to use a non-medical example.
