apical radiolucency/translucency/lucency Explanation: Since the radiograph is a negative, "[radio]lucent" areas actually are darker than normal as the image is views on an illuminator: Bone loss/infection leads to local loss of calcium, hence is more radiolucent, shown as a darker, more exposed ara in the radiograph. 30 years in medical radiology |
