It's late and I can't think anymore (or research for that matter)! Does "Gelbkoerper" merit a litteral translation (yellow body) or should I use the Latin "Corpus Lu-teum"?

Im Gehirn bewirkt das Progesteron die Drosselung der LH-Abgabe, was wiederum dazu führt, dass sich der Gelbkörper zurückbildet und immer weniger Progesteron abgibt.

English translation:corpus luteum
Explanation:
I would go with the Latin to be on the safe side ... yellow body/area is ok IMO but the Latin term is clear ... maybe some medical pros can clarify ...

agree  Johanna González: Yes, you find corpus luteum in any medical textbook on that subject. It does mean "yellow body" (literally), but the latin term is used.
