As far as I know they have to take care of the residues themselves, in which case 'manage' comes to mind, but it is obviously branch jargon. Is there any equivalent BE jargon?
In French, 'alimenter' often means 'to supply' in a technical context. The big question is whether that would make sense in this particular text. It should be easier for the transator to assess this as she has the entire text in front of her.
