German term or phrase: Suchzünder-Munition
The abbreviation "SMArt 155" is bsaed on "Suchzünder-Munition Artillerie".
I'd like to know what 'Suchzünder-Munition' alone is in English.

English translation:sensor fuzed munition
Explanation:
David - it's already in the KudoZ glossary, but without the hyphen. The best way to search the glossary is to enter as little as possible.

The German Diehl/Rheinmetall GIWS partnership's SMArt 155 (Sensor fuzed Munition for the ARTillery) can be fired from any 155mm gun, replacing the Copperhead laser-guided 155mm shell which is at the end of its service life.

Thanks for your suggestion - it's what GIWS uses in its own translation, and I wanted something better - hopefully idiomatic. In the meantime I've come to the conclusion, "If it's good enough for them, ..."
I particularly appreciate the tip about ignoring hyphes - mine seems to be a lost battle.
