Wühlmauspatrone root vole gun cartridges Explanation: A Wühlmaus (root vole) is a rodent that lives underground, like a mole. According to Google-findings, a Wühlmauspatrone is a gas-filled cartridge used in pest-control to extinguish root voles. It does not seem to be used with guns, though. Maybe it's military jargon for some gas-filled gun cartridge. When was it invented? In WW I? Maybe it would be best not to translate the word, but to leave it as is and add the explanation in brackets. |
