German term or phrase: Korrepetition
This occurs in a document dealings with the use of musical instruments.

I have found a few "translations" for "Korrepetitor", but is there any English word for the act itself?
Also, strangely, the word refers to the use of string instruments here. AFAIK, it normally refers to the piano.

English translation:piano rehearsal
Explanation:
A Korrepetition is a rehearsal for a singer or solo instrumentalist that is accompanied by a piano - sometimes with a conductor but often without.

I was a professional opera and concert singer for about 18 years in Germany, Italy and the USA.
I base my translation therefore on my personal professional experience

agree  Yorkshireman: To make it more precise, a piano rehearsal is a rehearsal at which the piano accompanist assumes the role of the orchestra - and sometimes the role of the conductor, too. It's much more than "simple" vocal accompaniment by a pianist.
