German to English translations [PRO]
Tech/Engineering - Construction / Civil Engineering
German term or phrase: Einbau / Installationen
Could anyone tell me what the difference is? These appear on a schedule of works to be carried out in a university, e.g. in Wk 39: Einbau, Installationen, Leuchtenmontage.

Also could you help with: Der alte Bestand ist ausgebaut - Bestand?

Die Kostendifferenz zur 17.5er Wand wird vom Hochbauamt getragen - zur 17er Wand // Hochbauamt??

Thanks again

Explanation:
The two terms "Einbau" and "Installation" are nearly as flexible in meaning as their English equivalents, "building in/construction/" and "installation/mounting/connection". The "Einbau" might refer to building in cupboards and cabinets and "Installation" to the installing and connecting up of gas, water, heating and electric power points etc. If you have no more context, you will have to try to be as rubbery as they were. Something like: "Construction, installation/completion work, connection and lamp mounting/installation"

The Hochbauamt is the city/state/county Building Surveyor's Office according to Ernst. The sentence means the Office will pay the additional cost of installing a 17,5 cm wall instead of a previously planned thinner one.

"Der alte Bestand ist ausgebaut." means "The previous/old/existing structural components/structure have/has been removed/torn down/dismantled."
