I'm not entirely sure if we use this expression in the same way as the Germans - I guess I can probably just translate it word for word (write history), can't I?

Thanks a lot! Well, this is what I suspected when I read the term, but wasn't sure, which just proves that it's best to double check - somehow, "write history" didn't really fit the context.
