There are several Melanchtonhäuser. The one in Wittenberg is an original Mediaeval building in which Melanchton lived for more than 20 years and in which he died (1560). However, he was born in Bretten, but the house was destroyed in a fire in 1689. The Melanchton house in Bretten was built in 1897 on the site of the house in which he was born and has its own home page (see below).
