German to English translations [PRO]
German term or phrase: Ungräser
"Unkräut(er)" = "weeds" - "Ungräser" = ????? – I can understand more of less what is meant, but I wouldn't bet I could tell the difference by looking at a plant. Both are killed with herbicides on these horrible old-fashioned non-eco farms where these farmers come from. Unfortunately, my farmers have used the two terms in the same paragraph so I need a translation other than "weeds". How about "wild grass/grasses"?

English translation:obnoxious (weed) grass, grass(y) weed
Explanation:
obnoxious (weed) grass, grass(y) weed are translations given by Muehle's Fachwoerterbuch Landwirtschaft (Hatier, now Langenscheidt). Muehle is, in my view, highly reliable and eminently recommendable. Life would be unbearable without it, in fact.

Thank you Christopher, the word "obnoxious" is great, everyone will understand it and it is backed by a good reference which I will add to my "to buy" list. The ProZ system seems to be working again at the moment, jump on board before it stalls again. Dan
