German to English translations [PRO]
German term or phrase: Flur/Flurstueck
Is there a translation of "Flur/-stueck" in the context of land registers (Grundbuch)? Does anyone know where to find a British or American land register sheet (Grundbuchauszug) in the web? And is the translation for "Wertgutachten" (for a site + building) evaluation, valuation, appraisal, survey or value analysis? Lots of questions, I know. Thanks a lot in advance!
Christiane Rose
English translation:cadastral district
Explanation:
This comes up frequently in my work. For Flur, Romain gives "village lands; cadastral district (or unit)." For Flurstueck, Romain gives "lot, plot (cadastral unit)"; Dietl does not list Flur alone but lists Flurstueck as "parcel of land." Duden explains it as "b) die in Parzellen eingeteilte landwirtschaftliche Nutzflaeche eines Siedlungsverbandes; c) abgegrenztes Teilstueck der Nutzflaeche. Gewann."
A cadastre is a tax inventory or register.

"Flur" is obviously "hallway" or "hall" but might also be "foyer". "Flurstück" .

Explanation:
"Flurstück" refers to "decorative mo(u)lding in the hallway". "Wertgutachten" in this context means "appraised value".

appraisal

Explanation:
To the best of my knowledge, the term Flur is used only for agricultural land, i.e. fields, pastures, etc. (Cf. the New Muret-Sanders). As far as Wertgutachten goes, I know that US banks use the term appraisal when evaluating properties for lending decisions. Hope this is of some help...

farmland

Explanation:
yes, this is agricultural land, or farmland. My point of reference is a land dispute I translated a few years ago, and this term was used. I believe I found the definition in Romain, but I am not certain of the source.

plot of land

Explanation:
Plot of land is a concise way of translating 'Flurstück'. 'Flur' refers to land/estate whilst Stück is a piece - & when referring to land - a plot.
