German term or phrase: URGENT! Football
Hi, Im having trouble with the following sentences in a text about France's victory in Euro 2000 :-(
"Ich will das unter Aimé Jacquet Erreichte fortführen und Ewigkeit werden lassen"
I'm not sure how to translate "ewigkeit werden lassen" here
AND
"Für die WM-Endrunde 2002 in Korea/Japan, wenn Frankreich seinen Titel verteidigt, steht Roger Lemerre beim Präsident des nationalen Fussballverbandes, Claude Simonet, im Wort."
Im having trouble with the last part of this sentence from "steht Roger..."
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

English translation:"last an eternity" and "made a commitment"
Explanation:
1. "I want to continue all that which Aimé Jacquet has achieved and make it last an eternity"

2. "im Wort stehen" means "to have given one's word", "to have made a commitment"
"Roger Lemerre has made a commitment to the President of the National Soccer Association, Claude Simonet, for (with respect to) the final round of the 2002 World Championship in Korea/Japan, when France will be defending its title."

I would translate it as follows: "I want to continue the success..to become part of history"

Explanation:
The second sentence I am not too sure, but guessing, I would say, that Roger Lemerre has to prove himself through his actions to justify Claude Simonet's predictions.
Sorry not to be of more help
