German term or phrase: Lichtkanten
Hilfe!
I have asked the same question in the language pair German-Portuguese without success. Am now hoping for the expertise of the colleagues that work the pair German-English.
the context is as follows:

Unter Zugrundelegung der Nettoeinstandswerte inklusiv der Zuschläge für Gehrungen, Falzen, Bohrungen und Lichtkanten sowie unter Berücksichtigung der aufwendigen Sortiermassnahmen sellt sich der Gesamtschaden wie folgt....

We are talking here of a Gutachten following a road accident with a truck loaded with granite stone tiles whereby these broke. The palets were damaged in the process as well. I understand Gehrungen and Bohrungen. But Lichtkanten...I honestly don't know. I will accept suggestions also on Falzen...

English translation:intersections or intersecting lines
Explanation:
Don't know how much help this will be, but Routledge gives
Lichtkante f
KONSTZEICH imaginary intersection

A quick search shows that Lichtkante seems to be a term used primarily in design drawing. See, for instance,
www.ft.tuwien.ac.at/hinweise.html

However, since the sentence you quote refers to allowances for seams, joints, etc., intersections might just fit in.

Falz m
BAU joggle, lap, mortise, plough (BrE), plow (AmE), rabbet, seam,
FERTIG rabbet,
PAPIER fold

Hope this helps...

flourescent road markings

Explanation:
The only answer suggested is wrong in my opinion. We are dealing here with the flourescent markers at the side of the road, which indicate the edge and serve as warnings to the drivers.
