tamburitza OR tamburizza Explanation: Both spelling seem to be used. The 1st one seems more "authentic" . It is the only spelling recording in The American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language: Fourth Edition. 2000. I would add a brief translator's note. In music probably the most original contribution is the tamburitza, the Croatian national string instrument and one of the hallmarks of Croatia. (The principal instrument of the tambura family, is a stringed instrument distantly related to the long-neck lute of Turkey.) See: Tamburitza, A Brief History of Serbian Music: http://www.4cbiz.net/Dorich/sm/tamburitza.html "Tamburizza Orchester Steinbrunn" : Repertoire of croatian folk songs, classic, "Schlager" Searching for contact groups worldwide (maybe tamburitza maybe others). the Tamburizza performance all show the struggle between the Hungarian and Austrian influences The Tamburitza and the preservation of Croatian folk music Internet, Dictionaries |
