I don't agree with the answer above. "aber" can be translated as "but".

Imagine this situation: someone insists on wearing a certain blouse that doesn't fit her, and someone else (mother?) says "but it's way/much too small (for you to wear it tonight)".

what's wrong with that scenario? I can't see what's wrong with "but" here.
