German to English translations [Non-PRO]
German term or phrase: Wir fahren mit dem Auto in den Süden
We are bound with our car for the South
We drive with our car in the south/southwards
toppy
"We are driving to southern Europe / southern Germany / Spain etc." or, or, or
Explanation:
First: There is no need to mention the word "car" because that is the only means of transportation that is possible with the verb "drive" in this context unless the speaker is a truck or bus driver.

Second: "Süden" here usually means Europe south of Germany, usually Spain or Portugal but Italy, southern France or Greece would also be possible. Southern Germany itself would be remotely possible too, but most likely not.

Third: You should try to find out from the rest of the context whether the journey has actually started or not.

If yes: "We are driving to southern Europe / southern Germany / Spain etc."

If no: "We are driving to southern Europe / southern Germany / Spain etc."
or
"We are going to drive to southern Europe / southern Germany / Spain etc."

Both are correct, although

Explanation:
the first one is more 'English' and I prefer this one. Your second suggestion sounds unnatural to the ear. Another: "we are travelling to the South by car"
Good luck

We are driving south

Explanation:
Or, if you want to include that the mode of transportation is the car you can say "we are going south by car"

Hopes this helps.
