German to English translations [Non-PRO]
German term or phrase: schlechte Leistungen werden toleriert und selten benegelt
schlechte Leistungen werden toleriert und selten benegelt
Nick
English translation:bad performance is tolerated and not often criticised
Explanation:
I think "benegelt" may be a mutation of "bemängelt" (!?), which seems to make sense in the context.

Thanks for unraveling this...all of this crap came from handwritten surveys...most of the responses were well nigh illegible...let alone translatable considering the mangled German! Glad as hell that is history!

bad performance is tolerated and seldom (?)

Explanation:
'benegelt' is not German I think. Might be Dutch or Flemish...

Poor performance is tolerated and rarely criticized.

Explanation:
I don't know 'benegelt', either and agree with Claudiar that it probably means 'bemängelt'.

poor performance...

Explanation:
I like Sonia's formulation the best, and agree it probably should be either bemängelt or benörgelt. When documents are scanned, sometimes the OCR or whatever is reading them gets some characters wrong. The client may not even be aware that he/she is providing "crappy" copy.
Good luck!
