German term or phrase:BEVO-WUPPERTAL
this is on an old peice of cloth i got from my grandfather who fought in wwII, it is under a picture of an eagle carrying a german swastica
Explanation: Wuppertal is the name of a German city; BeVo (or BEVO) is the name of a company that manufactured uniforms, cufftitles, etc. during the Third Reich.
The backing is the classic salt and pepper and both ends are sewn. One end has the writing BEVO WUPPERTAL (for the two companies that merged and the name of the city where the factory was located). This is a very choice and scarce cufftitle. www.therupturedduck.com/WebPages/Cloth/cloth.htm
Although this designation is now applied to virtually all machine-woven insignia for German uniforms from WWII, the name originally referred specifically to the firm "Bandfabrik Ewald Vorsteher" in Wuppertal-Baren. These woven insignia are most often seen on German field caps and overseas caps.
