Ich habe ihr auf die Naegel mit ungiftigen Filzstift eine Sonne gemalt.

She is talking about her strategy to make her little daughter to quit sucking thumbs. But I don't understand what is 'Filzstift eine Sonne.' Could anybody help explain it? Thanks!
