German to English translations [PRO]
Marketing - Advertising / Public Relations
German term or phrase: TKP/Tausendkontaktpreis
The term appears in a table heading for pricing advertisements on somebody else's website. From what I gather, the "Kontakt" probably has to do with the number of ad views/impressions, ergo price per one thousand ad views, but I'm not 100% sure and would also like to know if there's a more direct English equivalent.

Thanks.

English translation:cpm
Explanation:
This is standard advertising industry measure for how much it costs to reach 1000 people. CPM Cost per thousand is used by Internet marketers to price ad banners. Sites that sell advertising will guarantee an advertiser a certain number of impressions (number of times an ad banner is downloaded and presumably seen
by visitors.), then set a rate based on that guarantee times the CPM rate. A Web site that has a CPM rate of $25 and guarantees advertisers 600,000 impressions will charge $15,000 ($25 x 600) for those advertisers' ad banner.

Tausender-Kontaktpreis = CPM rate: - the average cost of delivering 1000 AdViews on a web portal

Explanation:
Tausender-Kontaktpreis = CPM rate: - the average cost of delivering 1000 AdViews on a web portal

This is the most important TKP reference: -

http://www.ecin.de/abc/q-abc.html -

Qualitativer TKP [Tausender-Kontaktpreis] Preis für 1000 AdClicks. -
Quantitativer TKP [Tausender-Kontaktpreis] Preis für 1000 AdViews. -
Adviews = your ad has been displayed on someone's screen - Adclicks = Someone has clicked on your ad to go to your site - If someone speaks of a TKP or CPM and does not mention "AdClick" or "AdView", then they must mean "AdViews" for two reasons:

1. AdViews happen more often because they must happen first. So the media agency earns its money faster.

2. The media agency has no control over the number of AdClicks unless they design the banner themselves, which is often not the case. The number of AdClicks is dependent on the number of AdViews PLUS the effectiveness of the banner.

These sites have similar infö: -

http://www.link4link.com/infocenter.html -

http://workmode.com/webmarketing.htm -

and here is one from the UK -

http://www.marketing-online.co.uk/IMGlos03.htm

If you enter "1000 AdClicks" in any search engine, you will get lots of glossaries on this subject.
