German term or phrase: Vermessung
xxx erklärt sich zur Zahlung von Erfindervergütungen bereit, die sich unmittelbar oder mittelbar aus der Überlassung und/oder Vermessung von xxx ergeben.

I find Vermessung odd here. doesn't fit the usual meanings. thanks for any help

I agree that this seems to be incorrect use of language. I think the author means "Ermessen". "im Ermessen liegen" = at the discretion of. And similar to "überlassen".
