Attribution of quotation 18:03 Jan 19, 2011
Nesrin, you are so much better at googling than I. It seems Cromwell's "stops being better" became in German "stops wanting to be better", so technically, it could be argued, it is no longer something Cromwell said, but something Robert Bosch said. I think our firm of Engineers would rather have Robert Bosch than Cromwell on their website. But, if the quotation has been misattributed, perhaps I should disappoint the client, and let them know? Or, I could add something like "as Robert Bosch was fond of saying" after the quotation, which skirts around issue of who actually said it first. Thank you Kim for excising the "whosoever stoppeth" feel to my rendition. Thank you Andrew for making me laugh! |
