agree  Steffen Walter: The intended (OVERLY clever) pun was not really obvious to me, though. When I first saw the word/headline, I was unable to establish any link to the paragraph.

  -> Yeah, I thought first of the figurative 'spark of contact' (à la Michealangelo's hand of God), and then Funkverbindung.
