German to English translations [Non-PRO] Art/Literary - Poetry & Literature
German term or phrase:aufgehoben

as Anna has it, it's a german word in an english text that i'm translating into turkish, the book in which it appears - Diary of a Bad Year - surely addresses the english speaking reader, but it seems this is all i can provide as context - it is one of the two german words in the whole book...
'Aufgehoben' has a range of meanings depending on the context. I originally thought I was the only one not having come across it in an English context, I do doubt that English only speakers would understand aufgehoben, unless I am mistaken? Poster?
