German to English translations [PRO] Bus/Financial - Real Estate / cooperative housing history
German term or phrase:Förderwirtschaft
Sentence: Denn der Zusammenschluß zu einer Genossenschaft, einer „Förderwirtschaft der Mitglieder“, wie es so richtig heißt, dient zunächst der Erzielung von Kostenvorteilen durch Zusammenschluß (economies of scale).
The text is about housing co-ops, or rather, cooperative housing estates with single family homes. Is there a good translation for Förderwirtschaft? I know that it is essentially a business formed to benefit a group of members, and Genossenschaft is translated as a cooperative; what is a good term to use for Förderwirtschaft? Thank you.
It has plenty to do with architecture, by the way... many famous architects designed for settlement cooperatives in Austria between the wars. The text covers this. And I beg to differ; not everybody knows what a co-op is, especially when it comes to building suburban developments. But thanks for your help!
Not sure why you've banned non-members from answering, but you could say "mutual benefit association" or "which benefits all of its members". Or you could leave it out - everyone knows what a co-op is.
