Talking about order picking at a high-bay warehouse. As far as I can ascertain, Schnelldreher are "fast-moving items" (i.e. products with a fast turnover), but this sentence really doesn't seem to make much sense to me in that case.

I used to translate and interpret quite a lot for a manufacturer of picking systems; they somtimes use "Schnelldreher" to describe the picking equipment used to pick fast movers. The machines are referred to as "picking machine for fast movers".

And your explanation of the system is very logical: there are two rows of fast movers on top of each other, and as soon as an item is picked (or any specified quantity of items) the respective space(s) is (are) filled by a shuttle again.
