German term or phrase: Starteralkohol; vorverlaengerte Diglycidylether
What is the English term for "Starteralkohol"
used in the catalyzed reaction of caprolactone to get polyester polyols

what is the translation for "vorverlaengert" in this case, could it be "advanced"?

English translation:start alcohol / pre-lengthened
Explanation:
Not so easy... The only reference I could find for "starteralkohol" was a Dutch chemical products page, see below. It seems that the alcohol is meant which is used as a starting point for the production of some substance. Therefore I think "start alcohol" might be OK. "Base alcohol" could be an alternative.

I could find no reference for "vorverlaengert". I guess it may mean that the chain is lengthened prior to the reaction (but how?). But I'm not sure about that.

The answer and reference on the alcohols helped, thanks.
In terms of the "vorverlaengert", I somehow remember a book of abstracts where in a few papers they talked about "advanced glycidyl ethers" whith a similar context, but I could not find anything to confirm that.
Thanks though for the quick response.
