na | English: Spinel |

spinel Explanation: Ernst – "Wörterbuch der industriellen Technik" shows "spinel" (Mineral) for "Spinnell". NODE shows "spinel" as "a hard glassy mineral occurring as octahedral crystals of variable colour and consisting chiefly of magnesium and aluminum oxides". As a countable noun, NODE, describes "any of a class of oxides including the above, containing aluminum and another metal and having the general formula MAI2O4". I don't understand a word of all this but maybe it will be of some help. Dan |

English: Spinel Explanation: Spinels are an accompanying mineral of corundum (rubies and sapphires), mostly found in India, most of which do not have jewelry quality (if they are, they are very beautiful) and are used for industrial purposes. There are also synthetic spinels. Edelsteine und Perlen, Dr. Schlossmacher |
