German term or phrase: aerobe keimzahl
This comes from the specifications of testing procedures for bacteria in a food product. I translated Mikrobiologische Kennzahlen as microbiological values. Do I translate aerobe (and coliforme Keime/Keimzahl) as aerobic bacillus count?

aerobic bacteria(l) count and coliform bacteria(l) count
Explanation:
Bacillus is too specific a word, as it refers to rod-shaped bacteria only and wouldn't take into account other types. It is true that Coliform bacteria are rod-shaped (bacillus), but the others may well not be. I realize that the German "Bazillen" is somewhat of a generic word for bacteria in German, but this is not the case in English.

aerobic (colony) count

Explanation:
A few weeks back, I had to do a translation in this field. The word you are looking for is "aerobic colony count", with "colony" being optional.

The other one would be coliform bacteria count.
