German term or phrase: Lochretentionen
Is there such a thing as "hole retentions"?
PS: Sorry if you're getting this again. It didn't seem to work before.

Explanation:
It does seem a bit like an oxymoron: the retention of emptiness. I did find a document that contained "hole retention" in the sense of "pin to hole retention" at http://www.autosplice.com/3a1a-as_anstackpin.html. At least the imagery might help.

Explanation:
Can you provide the sentence in which it occurs???? It is very difficult to offer a suggestion without context. Of course, you too might not have any context. Is it possible that it is a synonym for Lochscheibe/platte-> strainer or strainer plate, something causing retention of unwanted particles??
